The Rotary Club of Salmon Arm recently donated $2500 to the Father's Day Fishing Derby, founded and organized yearly by James Murray. seen here receiving the cheque from club Board Members. James Murray started the fishing derby 28 years ago in honour of his father. It has grown in popularity over the years and now attracts hundreds of children.

"It gives young people a chance to experience fishing and families to spend times together enjoying an outdoor activity,” said Murray. “Some of these kids take the derby pretty serious. They have their gear all rigged up and ready the night before, and are down there early to pick out what they think – hope – will be the best spot.”
