Thanks to a District Grant  plus contributions from the  six clubs of the Wine Country Rotary Cluster Group for International Service,  Inmaculada Concepción Elementary School in Comayagua, Honduras, has installed  a brand new library, envisioned as a cornerstone for the community: a space to nurture literacy, creativity, curiosity, and connection.

The six clubs, which include Rotary Club of Salmon Arm, Kelowna Ogopogo, Kelowna Sunrise, Kamloops Aurora, West Kelowna Daybreak, and  Lake Country contributed a total of $10,000 US which was matched by Rotary District 5060 for a total of $20,000 US.

The school serves 26 teachers and 869 students. The District Grant, put together by Ross Harris of the Salmon Arm Rotary International Committee, provides 1800 books and the essential materials to install and personalize a fully equipped library at Inmaculada Concepción Elementary School.

It will serve as a gathering place where students can discover new worlds through reading, cultivate a lifelong love of learning, and develop the critical thinking and empathy that are at the heart of the school’s educational philosophy. For Inmaculada Concepción, this library is a passport — not just to literacy, but to opportunity, imagination, and a brighter, more empowered future.
